Mick Tyler - Breakaway Survival School

The aim of the Breakaway Survival
School is simply to teach Survival and emphasize team-work. It is
not a glorified camping exercise - it teaches how to become dependent
on one's skills and resources away from the trappings of society.
It teaches an intense awareness of your surroundings. Your survival
depends on it. You will be taught how to improvise weapons, trap
rabbits, pheasants and fish, which you will then prepare and cook,
and finally eat. You learn how to exist on the plant life that nature
has provided. You will discover how to make a shelter that will protect
you from the elements. You will learn how to navigate over difficult
terrain. You will learn all of these things because, if you don't,
you won't eat or sleep. |
Yes - it's rough - it's tough - it's a challenge. That's why companies such
as Marconi and Citi-Bank Corporation send their young managers on these courses.
To discover their inner resources. To shape their attitudes to teamwork which
is essential in business, and of course, to use that greater awareness in
their place of work. The courses are open to anyone. Although they are not
easy, they are not designed to make or break you, but to develop you. They
can also be a lot of fun.

ROUTINE WEEKEND COURSE:
FRIDAY: Arrive at base camp 20.00 hrs.- approx. Introduction to
accommodation.
SATURDAY:0600 hrs. Breakfast, brief for exercise, 0800 hrs. move
off on task one navigating to shelter area (completing the tasks
in the right sequence).
SUNDAY: Complete the tasks, then move to the pick up points, return
to the base. |
The various courses outlined here will
give you a good idea of what to expect and add a new dimension to your
previous experiences and new confidence to your abilities. Many lasting
friendships have been formed at the Breakaway Survival School. Many
come back for the advanced or refresher courses. Most experience a
deep feeling of self satisfaction from their self sufficiency, secure
in the knowledge that they have now become survivors and join the Breakaway
Survival Club.The courses are held in the Brecon Beacons, Wales - and
are renowned for their outstanding natural beauty with mountains, valleys,
waterfalls and streams, yet even in the harshest conditions - for those
who know how to survive, it is still hospitable. |

to unwind.
